Product Information:
This body lotion was especially developed for dry skin. It intensively hydrates your skin for at least 24 hours and improves your skin barrier function. Enriched with shea butter and jojoba oil this lotion softens and nourishes the skin. The light emulsion melts on your skin without a sticky or greasy feeling. lt contains the following active ingredients moisturizing, smoothing and balancing your skin:
Urea
Urea (carbamide) is present in the skin in a concentration of 8-11 µg per square centimetre. In case of dry skin values are often below that. Due to the application of topical formulations containing 1-3% Urea, however, the concentration can be increased. Because of its high water binding properties Urea promotes rehydration of the skin. As Urea has a keratoplastic effect when being used in concentrations between 3-5% and is even keratolytic when being used in higher concentrations than that, the application of such high concentrations does not seem to be appropriate.
Mannitol/Glycerol
The combination of mannitol and glycerol improves skin moisturisation, as these compounds penetrate skin and increase its water binding capacity.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a component of all cell membranes. It has many biological functions, the antioxidant function being the most important. It protects unsaturated fatty acids of membrane lipids, lipoproteins and fats towards degradation by oxidation. Furthermore, vitamin E exhibits pronounced free radical scavenger properties providing a protective effect towards degradation processes being mediated by such radicals.
Shea butter
Shea Butter contains many unsaturated fatty acid and phytosterines. They are incorporated in the lipid layer of the skin improving the protective lipid coat of the skin and skin barrier function.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is a liquid wax and therefore very similar to human sebum. In contrast to fatty oils it cannot be degraded by lipases. It spreads easily over the stratum corneum, remains there comparatively longer and improves elasticity. Furthermore, it improves the protective lipid coat of the skin without being occlusive.
Tolerability:
This body lotion is free from PEG, PEGylated emulsifying agents, paraffins, sodium dedecyl sulfate and preservatives. It is non-comedogenic.
